Ministries

We believe that when it comes to church, "one size" does not fit all. In order to reach a broad range of people, we offer a multitude of ministries and two worship services. We want to be your church!
 
WORSHIP SERVICES

     CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP

A contemporary and informal worship service designed for those who don't find "traditional church" engaging.
We meet in the Zion Church fellowship hall. Come as you are and enjoy a time of hospitality and fellowship beginning at 11:00 a.m.
 
Worship begins at 11:30 a.m. every Sunday morning and concludes about 12:30 p.m..   Excellent clean and safe child care is available.
 
The music is live and contemporary. The atmosphere is informal and inviting. You will find your heart being touched; your spirit being refreshed; and your life taking on new meaning and purpose.  We believe this service will help you experience deeper intimacy with God.
 

     TRADITIONAL WORSHIP

Some people prefer the more formal and traditional type of worship service. Consequently, Zion offers, at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays, a service rooted in the liturgical tradition of the reformed church. Here, you will find a beautiful and inspiring sanctuary, church organ music, liturgy that reminds you of the church you grew up in, and a sense of the transcendence of God.
 
Hearing helpers are available and the sanctuary is wheelchair-friendly.
 
We also offer transportation services for our Traditional Service to pick up those who have no other form of transportation. Just call the church office at (502) 637-5466 to schedule your pick-up.
 
 
SMALL GROUP MINISTRIES
  • Wednesday Evening Bible Study:  Each Wednesday evening at 7:00 our Pastor leads us in an hour-long study of the Bible.  Currently, we are going through the New Testament book of Romans - verse by verse.  If you are looking for great fellowship and an informal way to enhance your spiritual life - this group is for you!
  • Women's Fellowship:  This group of women meets every first and third Sunday at 6:00 p.m.  It is a great time of sharing, support, and growth in the Lord.  For more information, call the church office (637-5466).
     
  • Men's Fellowship:  This group grew out of a Promise Keepers trip a few years ago and has been meeting ever since.  The men meet the first and third Sundays of each month at 6:00 p.m. for supper, study, fellowship, light maintenance around the church and laughs.  A great group of guys trying to help each other grow in the Lord.  Call the church office for more information.   • Tuesday Group: A group of women meet just about every Tuesday to construct "Skinny Books" for the JCPS Head Start Program.  Great conversation and fellowship are included along with the satisfaction of knowing children are being helped.

  • Small Groups: A series of "Small Group Ministries" are now being formed.  These are intimate groups of 5-10 people meeting in homes for fellowship, support, study, and discipleship.  If you are interested in becoming involved in this life changing ministry, contact our pastor - Rev. MUSIC AND DRAMA MINISTRIES
  • The Praise and Worship Team provides the musical leadership for our contemporary worship service. This team rehearses each Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. The team plays popular contemporary christian praise music, new versions of traditional hymns, and some original music as well. If you sing or play an instrument, we would love to have you audition for this very powerful ministry!
     
  • The Zion Players is the name of our drama ministry. This ministry provides drama productions primarily for our contemporary worship service, although occasionally it will do a piece for the traditional worship service as well. This group is always looking for new talent.
     
  • Our Chancel Choir provides music for our traditional worship service. They do classical church choir hymns and choruses.
     
  • The Bell Choir performs primarily for the traditional worship service. They have a great time learning new techniques and music.
 
AUDIO/VIDEO MINISTRIES
  1. The AV Team runs the sound system, video, computer-generated graphics projection system, and the lighting systems for our contemporary  worship service. This team is always looking for new members and offers a great way to do ministry "behind the scenes."
     
  2. Our Tape Ministry Team provides tapes of the weekly traditional worship service to "shut-ins" and others who desire an audio tape of the service.
